To be honest, I was nervous about using a guide because I did not want to feel like I was a “tourist” instead of the “traveler” that I think I am in my own mind :). From the very first time I contacted Adnane, he was super attentive and accommodating. We did a completely bespoke 9 day tour of all of Morocco--starting in Marrakech and ending in Tangiers. I asked so many questions and made so many requests and he constantly reassured me that it was his pleasure to help. He insisted he didn’t want to treat us like tourists and that he only created unique and authentic experiences. And boy, did he ever deliver! We did a number of experiences that were so authentic, you can’t even find them on Trip Advisor or book them online. One highlight was a special horseback riding morning through an oasis to surprise my friend. Adnan used his relationships with locals to find someone who owned horses and would guide us. My friend, an experienced rider, said it was the best riding experience he had ever had. As for my initial concerns with feeling “guided,” I can’t say that we weren’t guided. Adnane escorted us for almost our whole trip (though respectfully gave us time on our own to wander when requested and usually excused himself while we were dining), providing insightful commentary and context along the way. I was truly impressed with his knowledge and passion for his country. His genuine care for others was apparent during the entire trip, and was truly touching. So while it was different from the usual way we travel, Adnan provided a whole new dimension to traveling. He was part docent, part storyteller, and part ambassador—introducing us to other Moroccans along the way. Not to mention, with only 9 days to cover all of Morocco, we wasted no time getting lost and everything was so perfectly planned and executed, we got to see and do SO MANY THINGS—we left our trip feeling exhilarated and filled with happiness. If you want a vacation filled with surprises and special touches and without the hassle of figuring out transportation and getting lost, Treasures of Tangiers is an excellent option. Adnan will treat you like a friend, is supremely trustworthy, and in his words, “will make you want to be an ambassador for Morocco.” Thank you so much Adnane and Mustafa for an incredible journey!
