Today, we’ll begin our day with a calm drive through the city of Tangier and its international quarters on our way to the Caves of Hercules and Cap Spartel, the meeting point of the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean!
After exploring Tangier’s Atlantic Coast, we’ll head back to Tangier’s Kasbah, where we’ll begin our walking tour. We’ll roam the calm white-washed alleyways of the Kasbah and admire the majestic views of the Strait of Gibraltar from Bab Bhar. We’ll then walk to the medina, past Barbara Hutton’s house and the emblematic Café Baba, to the Grand and Petit Socco via Ibn Battuta’s tomb.
We’ll then visit the American Legation, an American National Landmark, and follow the footsteps of the Beat Generation to Café Centrale, a favorite meeting spot within the city walls!
Tangier is drastically different from any other city in Morocco. Here, you’ll hear many different languages spoken simultaneously and notice a mix of cultures and ideas that normally tend to clash rather than miraculously mold together.
Tangier is a veritable melting pot, a crossroad, a nexus. An exchange booth. Trust us. You’ll enjoy it. There is nothing like it.
Having explored Tangier thoroughly the day before, we’ll leave the coast and head inland towards Chefchaouen, located within majestic the Rif Mountain range!
We’ll stop in Tetouan, also known as ‘Little Jerusalem” and “Small Granada”, to connect with its rich Andalusian and Jewish heritage, before we explore its beautiful Moorish UNESCO World Heritage Medina.
We’ll then delve deeper into the Rif Mountains and head directly to Chefchaouen, also known as ”The Blue Pearl” or “The Blue City”.
We’ll check-in and explore this blue universe of a Medina by night, long after all the day trippers have left, and get to really mingle with the locals. By locals, we mean the gazillion cats that call this charming place home!
After a leisurely start and a filling breakfast, we’ll head to explore the medina and its souks with all of its locals at full swing and get to witness the infinite shades of blue, as the morning light bounces of this medina’s walls!
We’ll visit the Kasbah of Chefchaouen and climb up its 15 th century tower for an impressive 360 panorama.
We’ll then explore all of this medina’s historic and photogenic quarters, before we sit for a filling lunch befitting this wonderful experience.
After lunch, we’ll wrap up a wonderful 4 days of exploration and begin our way to your preferred location! This could be anywhere you desire! The journey still isn’t over!
