THE MIDDLE ATLAS

Marrakech is Morocco but the there is more to Morocco than Marrakech.

On this tour, we’ll explore Marrakech and its Medina before heading to the Middle Atlas.

Ouzoud is home to Africa’s second highest waterfall and the native monkey, the Barbary Macaque.

We’ll drive on scenic rural backroads and gaze at magnificent panoramas of the Atlas Mountains.

In Bin el Ouidane, we’ll go on a boat tour to explore this beautiful lake.

Here, you can swim, kayak, water ski, and even Jet Ski should you so please!

This tour adds an authentic rural touch to the medina and souk experience in Marrakech.

Meet and greet your guide and driver at your hotel or at Marrakech’s International Menara airport, before beginning you tour of Marrakech. Should you be arriving after midday to Marrakech Airport, we’ll adapt by adding a day to this program, for ideal pacing, at no added cost.

Get to explore Marrakech and its exotic medina in a manner fit for kings and queens. Our tours of Marrakech are something else! You’ll see places away from the tourist trail and be given local access to the most authentic of places and experiences!

Visit Yves Saint Laurent’s famous Jardin Majorelle Gardens and gaze at the mesmerizing beauty of the Bahia Palace. Witness the craze of spectacles at the legendary Jemaa el Fna Square firsthand and make your dreams of a thousand and one nights, a reality!

After having fully explored Marrakech, we’ll head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our destination today is Ouzoud, home to the second highest waterfall in Africa. This is a site and sight to behold.

The drive to Ouzoud from Marrakech is about 3 hours across dramatically and drastically different terrain than we’ve seen in and around Marrakech! In Ouzoud, we’ll check-in to a charming and perfectly located guesthouse, before heading out for a compressive guided tour and small hike around the Ouzoud Waterfall.

We’ll gaze at the Ouzoud Waterfall from so many different places & angles before taking a pontoon ride to get right up close and personal with the waterfall. Feel free to jump in and swim for the full experience. We might even spot Barbary Macaques and their families, jumping and fooling around, in their natural habitat, for what is a natural sight to treasure, far, far away from zoos or the Jemaa el Fna Square!

After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll begin crossing the Middle Atlas on remote rural roads, to the Ben El Ouidane Lake, for what is surely one of the most scenic drives in Morocco.

We’ll witness panoramic views of the snowcapped High Atlas Mountain range, which lead to Marrakech, and delve deeper toward Bin El Ouidane Lake.

The drive today, is the destination. At Ben El Ouidane, we’ll board a luxurious boat and head to explore the Ahanssal River and the Dam itself. Go for some kayaking exercise or rent a jet-ski for an accelerated adrenaline rush!

We’ll then head for a wonderful panoramic lunch overlooking the Middle Atlas and the Bin El Ouidane Lake before heading back to Ouzoud. We’ll drive on an alternative back road to cross right through authentic Middle Atlas Berber villages, before making our way back to Ouzoud.

After a leisurely, slow breakfast overlooking the Middle Atlas, we’ll check-out from our Riad in Ouzoud and begin our drive towards Marrakech.

This day is very flexible as we can add different activities to adapt to all travelers and preferences!

For those on a tight schedule or willing to relax, we can drive straight for Marrakech. For those with energy and eagerness to explore nature, we can go for a trek and hike at Imi n-Ifri to spot dinosaur footprints and an impressive natural rock bridge!

We can also add any activity in Marrakech so that you can make most of your day today, before we head for our Farewell Dinner at the legendary Dar Essalam Restaurant.
